Four Stories – Resisting Violences, Reclaiming Lives

These short films draw on the idea that no matter what people face, we are always responding.

Here we name particular tactics of domestic and family violence through young peoples eyes, experiences and language. The tactics include Verbal, Emotional, Physical, Social and Technological Abuse. We also celebrate some of the hopes, knowledge and skills people have in reclaiming their lives from these tactics and their effects.

The Dark Pressure to ‘Man Up’

A Storm of Hurt

The Harsh Electricity of Limiting Choices

The Chain of Distressing Words

Intimate partner violence is the most common type of violence against women, affecting 30 per cent of women and girls worldwide. We hope these stories get you thinking and talking about individual and collective ways of taking action to respond to domestic and family violence.

These films were created in collaboration between the Four Stories Creative Team, Jetzak Productions, FaHCSIA (Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs) and the Domestic Violence Action Centre. This blog is an independent project of the Four Stories Creative Team and is not monitored or associated with DVAC.
